Sliding Scale (individuals)
→ Beyond 15 min of my time = $15/15 min ($60/hr).
→ Use the Green Bottle: pay more if you have more access, so others can pay less. Cash preferred.

🫶Hybrid Support
→ Cash at your chosen rate + share/promote TVB = biggest impact.

Commercial / Funded Projects
→ Schools, nonprofits with budgets, businesses = funded rate.

My Big Dream 🌱

The Velveteen Bean exists because I believe gardening, compost, and living soil should be free and available to all. Bagged compost is expensive, knowledge gets gatekept — my mission is to break those barriers by turning waste into soil and helping neighbors start composting.

If you can pay, you’re not just buying my time — you’re showing up in allyship. Your contribution makes it free for others and spreads climate hope. Most of my events, classes, waste-diverted goods, worms, and compost set-ups are all free to the public, you make this possible either by donating or paying for my continued help.

Friend Tier (non-cash support)

If I’ve already helped you, set you up, or you trust my work, the best way to give back is outreach and creative connection.

  • Share about me and TVB on your socials or business channels, a picture, a story, a repost.

  • Introduce me to a café that would be open to regular compost collection, a teacher, gardener, or business that is interested in compost support.

  • Connect me with artists, makers, documentarians, photographers, grief workers, or other creative folks to collaborate in amplifying the message of climate hope — we need each other.

  • Volunteer at an event, join me in the garden, or help collect compostables from the community.

Sliding Scale for Time & Services

  • Beyond 15 minutes of my time → $15/15 min ($60/hr), using the Green Bottle model.

  • Applies to compost consulting, garden troubleshooting, strategy sessions, creative/brand storytelling, and hands-on builds, site visits.

  • If you have more financial access (stable job, property, whiteness, maleness, organizational budget), lean up a tier so others can lean down. This is how you show up as an ally.

🤝 Hybrid Support

Cash + outreach/social share = biggest impact.

Commercial & Funded Projects

If your request is for a company, school, nonprofit with a budget, or funded project, please book at the funded/commercial rate. That funding makes the “free for all” part possible.
