Hi, I’m Maggie, I’m a composter producer, micro-hauler, waste-diverter. I show and teach the magic of waste-to-renewal through story, installations, art, and education.

Why Velveteen Bean Method?

  • Provides a carbon-heavy base of consistent size (pine bedding), hard to find in urban places.

  • Microbes, bunny manure goodness

  • Quick nitrogen (coffee grounds) to get any pile balanced, usually hot.

  • AYO (add your own) kitchen scraps, etc.

Every free item like the composting worms, compost inoculant, seeds, plants, mushroom blocks, pile building, workshop, and bucket of compost is made possible through shared effort, spreading the word, trade-in-labor, skills, time, materials, and funds.

    What are you looking to learn, gain or help with? Some examples…collect bulk coffee grounds from your local cafe, pick up bunny bedding, partner with local business to get their compost goods. Help deliver, build worm bins, tend piles, or support at events… what’s your idea?

    Or simply come have fun. Meet cool people, learn compost! I have poor leadership structure! help!

    Setting up a compost system, slow-pace garden design, strategy for improving your soil, or adding an educational, artful, or compost-y to your garden or event. Creative consulting.

    • $60/hour (including commute time)

    • Sliding scale not only available but encouraged. If you can pay more, you help others pay less. See “Green Bottle” below for guidance.

    • Funded projects, schools, and businesses use the commercial rate.
